Burn Ban Rescinded for Pecos County

Effective May 27, 2026, the Pecos County Burn Ban has been rescinded by the County Judge. Residents may now burn brush piles and other approved materials.

If you choose to burn, please do so safely:

• Burn only when there is little to no wind.

• Have a water source or other fire suppression equipment readily available.

• Never leave a fire unattended.

• Burn only during daylight hours.

• Be mindful of neighboring properties and take every precaution to prevent your fire from spreading.

Important Reminder: Burning is prohibited within the city limits due to a city ordinance.

Before conducting a controlled burn, please notify PD Dispatch at (432) 336-4600. This allows dispatch to know you are conducting a controlled burn and helps prevent the Fire Department from being dispatched unnecessarily.
